OPBJEXT by Team Worldwide

Sheridan Sprint Week (game jam) project

Opbjext was a result of my group (Team Worldwide) during Sheridan's Spring 2020 Sprint Week, of which the theme was Arcade. All games were designed to be functional on the school's arcade cabinet, but we wanted to ensure it felt like a proper arcade game of the '80s.
In Opbjext, two players battle within a limited screenspace, throwing rocks, bombs and traps at eachother. When one player dies, the screen opens up and the survivor has a few seconds to run towards the opponent's podium, upon which rests a stolen Opbjext flag that the player must bring back to their podium. The opponent will respawn shortly and battle resumes as players push back and forth.
During this project, I served as the Lead Designer as well as the Sound Designer. The core gameplay, initial design of items and characters, and all accompanying music and sound effects are my design and displayed below.
